Pea plants were particularly well suited for use in Mendel's breeding experiments for all of the following reasons except that a
solniwko [45]

Answer:

. d. peas have an unusually long generation time

Explanation:

Gregor mendel is a scientist, he was bored 20th July,1822. He carried out an experiment using pea plant and he is reffer to as the father of genetist. Mendel used seven traits of the pea plant in his experiments this include flower color which is either purple or white, flower position which is either axil or terminal stem length which could be long or short, seed shape (round or wrinkled), seed color (yellow or green), pod shape (inflated or constricted) and pod color (yellow or green). He uses pea plant because of the following reason,

pea plant has many observable characteristics that could be used such as flower colors, seed shape.

Pea plant is an annual crop that matures early, so earliness to maturation makes Mendel select pea

Mating in pea plant can be controlled. Pea plant are self fertilizing crop but he decided to control the mating pattern by cross fertilize them and avoiding contamination from other pea plant.

The experiment with pea pant would produce enough seeds for subsequent generation.

This experiment made Mendel propound 2 laws, law of segregation of gene and law of Independent assortment of gene.

Why we used dyes when we prepare onion , human cheek eqithelium smears, and didn’t use it in cork and leaf epidermal cells smear
Ad libitum [116K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Staining is done for onion cells to visualize the cytoplasm of yellow and white onions because they are not pigmented. The staining of human cheek cells with methylene blue is necessary to stain the nucleus to get clear image of it under microscope because methylene blue binds to negative charge nucleic acids

While for leaf epidermal cells smears, staining is not necessary as they are visible under light microscope without staining and they also have pigmented materials inside them such as chlorophyll chloroplast.  The cork cell is a non-living and have a cell wall whose structure is visible under light microscope.

Why are ribonucleoside triphosphates the monomers required for rna synthesis rather than ribonucleoside monophosphates?
torisob [31]

Answer:

The phosphates provide energy for the bond between each nucleotide.

Explanation:

When each nucleotide is being bound, the two extra phosphates provide the energy needed for it to form the bind between each nucleotide that's being added to the RNA. Without this energy, the RNA wouldn't be able to form due to the lack of enough energy.
