In the food chain, the hawk eats the mice. If there were no mice, then the environment would be unbalanced. The owls, cats, skunks, snakes, and dogs eat mice too, so mice are essential.

How do the properties of water contribute to transpiration
muminat

Answer:

Cohesion and adhesion of water molecules

Explanation:

Cohesion has to do with the ability of water to adhere together .

The cohesive properties of water which is occasioned by hydrogen bonding between adjacent water molecules allow the column of water to move up through the plant irrespective of the force of gravity as water molecules are evaporating at the leaf surface.

The adhesive properties of water, which means, the attraction between the water molecule and the xylem wall also ensure continuity in the movement of the water column in the xylem.

Hence the cohesive and adhesive properties of water molecules are important for transpiration to occur.

Answer:

Proteins: used in facilitate transport across membrane

Carbohydrates: used to drive cellular respiration

Lipid: composes the cell membrane

Nucleic acid: used to create identical daughter cells in mitosis

Explanation:

A. In the cell membrane, transport proteins or channels are present which selectively allow the transfer of molecules. This is why the cell membrane is also known as a selectively permeable membrane.

B. In cellular respiration, which takes place in mitochondria, glucose (carbohydrate) is used to generate ATP molecules.

C. The cell membrane is composed of a lipid bilayer that contains protein channels. This makes the membrane insoluble in water and maintains the integrity of the cell.

D. The nucleic acid is the hereditary material that can replicate and transfer genetic information to the next generation.

what are structures without a present-day function called? a. homologous c. vestigial b. analogous d. extinct
Lesechka [4]
C. Vestigial.

A vestigial structure example in out bodies is the Appendix. We don't really need it, it just kind of "hangs out" in our bodies. We evolved to not need it.

I hope this helped! Let me know if it did not!
I hope you have a fantastical day!!!XD

There are those who claim that the theory of evolution cannot be true because the apes, which are supposed to be closely related
saveliy_v [14]

Answer:

A. Advantageous alleles do not arise on demand.

Explanation:

According to theory of evolution, heritable traits in organisms can change across the generations leading to their evolution. There are many evolutionary forces like natural selection, mutation, genetic drift etc. However, it is incorrect to assume that the advantageous alleles will always be selected in evolution. Accumulation of random mutations, genetic drift or bottle neck effect are independent of this factor. Also, organisms with different degree of beneficial traits can coexist in same time frame. Just because humans evolved in a particular direction does not mean that other organisms will also do so.
