If one was a peasant in ancient China, they would probably prefer to live in a Confucian society.
Confucian society was focused on the peace, tradition, and the “good”, or compassion and righteousness, within human beings. This was a major cultural turning point in Chinese history.
Under Legalism, people were under the impression that people were mostly “evil” or “selfishly” inclined and was meant to control citizens with harsh punishment for crimes, especially for peasants or commoners.
I think that the answer is a because than they can pass laws when other can't and they can have their own rules.
