William Wordsworth wrote that "all good poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings." Based on what you have learned

in this lesson, do you agree with this definition? Why or why not?
Next, think of a poem that you’ve read that you found particularly meaningful. It can be one of the poems from this unit or one that you’ve read on your own. Does that poem fit with Wordsworth’s definition of good poetry? Why or why not?

Finally, keeping the poem you selected in mind, consider whether you believe that poetry has the power to change your perspective. Using examples from the poem you selected and/or from the poems in the unit, explain and defend your point of view.

Leviafan [203]

The choice of words used in the "Not Waving but Drowning" by Stevie Smith exemplified a tragic tone.

What is a tone?

A tone is the mood or attitude of the author as exemplified in the text and their choice of words.

Some of the words used are as follows:

  • "Nobody heard him, the dead man," [Line 1]
  • "(Still the dead one lay moaning)" [Line 11]

From the textual evidence above, it is clear that the tone of the poem is tragic as it speaks to someone who was fighting for his life but got his SOS call misinterpreted.

The flair toothpaste uses the images of a neat dentist that recommends the toothpaste, and also uses the images of nice white people with incredible white teeth. That is the way they use to persuade readers and to create meaning. Other adds as the car ones present a clean and fast road with a family inside the car, enjoying a very nice holidays. So the way to persuade are kind of the same: show happy people with the product that they want to sell

Idk the answer to this at all :(
g100num [7]

The answer would be B. She is a female Hercules; she has superior strength.

An allusion is essentially when an author makes some kind of reference to something that isn't really "part" of the text. By this I mean that the author is referencing to something historical or literature. Like in this sentence the author references Hercules. Hercules is from mythology. A easier way to think about this is linking it to real life. A lot of times teenagers "quote" or reference their favorite songs/TV shows/ movies/books in daily conversation. In this situation the teenager is making an allusion.

Hope this made sense!
