Using strong verbs is something that takes practice, but can be simple if you think of the verbs as being the action, but also as giving a picture of what the subject is doing.

Verbs do not describe, that is the job of adjectives and adverbs, but verbs do help the reader "see" what is happening, especially when they are used well.

For example, the sentence "I went to the store." can be made much more descriptive by using strong, active verbs. Think about what the subject looks like DOING each of the different verbs:

I walked to the store.
I hopped to the store.
I strolled to the store.
I ran to the store.
I skipped to the store.

Simply changing the verb in each of these sentences shows a completely different action that helps the reader envision what the subject is doing.

Hi, I’m Lena and I will be answering your question to the best of my ability. If you have any further questions after my answer, do not hesitate to ask me! ツ

♡ Let’s look at the main important thing(s) that will lead you in the correct path.

♥ Key words. You should always look for key words in a passage. For example, if you see "bounced with joy" in a passage, it will most likely be happy.

♡ Let's solve the question together.

The house dog lay stretched out on the floor,

Where the shade, afternoons, used to steal;

The busy old wife by the open door,

Was turning the spinning wheel,

And the old brass clock on the mantle tree,

Had plodded along to almost three.

♥ Again, look for key words. We can see stretched and shade. That gives us a clue that it's calm. We can also use POE, meaning process of elimination. At first glance, it may seem sad, but there's nothing to be sad about. There's nothing hopeless or too happy, so it's calm.
