Yes, it would be accurate to say that the opposite of this is happening today, because Mexicans are coming into America which is controlled by Americans, looking for work and oppurtunities. It is the opposite of what happened back in the late 1840s during the Gold Rush since it was Mexican controlled and now it is controlled(typically) by Americans. It is now the Mexicans coming into America, and others, instead of Americans entering America looking for work.
