Read the excerpt from "A Modest Proposal." I profess, in the sincerity of my heart, that I have not the least personal interest
Alexandra [31]

In this excerpt from Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal", the statement that best describes how irony is used in the excerpt is <em>"Swift states that he is speaking from "the sincerity in (his) heart."</em>

Swift is going to state his "modest proposal". He writes about how Ireland is suffering for being under British rule. How impoverished couples have trouble feeding their children. Mothers and children beg on the streets. To avoid this, Swift suggests in a satirical way that women should sell their children to rich English landowners, so they will serve them as meals.  He could not seriously write this from the sincerity of his heart, this is ironical.

Studentka2010 [4]

The inference is that the purpose of this speech is C. Inform.

<h3>What is an inference?</h3>

A purpose can be described as the reason something exists, the reason we utilize something, or the reason we create it. All three of them are potentially relevant for public speaking. For instance, when discussing a speech's purpose, we might consider why a particular speech was delivered, how to use the information contained in a speech, and our own motivations for writing a speech.

This is the conclusion that can be drawn from the data provided in the literature, it should be highlighted. According to reports, he remained strong despite being ambushed in Iraq and suffering injuries from explosion fragments. He stayed strong and was able to bring every member of his squad to safety while the rest of the group was suffering with food poisoning.

This demonstrates that the speech's goal is to inform.

____________________ are considered to be the precursors to what is now known as a magical realism
Mademuasel [1]
A literary mode rather than a distinguishable genre, magical realism is characterized by two conflicting perspectives, one based on a so-called rational view of reality and the other on the acceptance of the supernatural as prosaic reality. Magical realism differs from pure fantasy primarily because it is set in a normal, modern world with authentic descriptions of humans and society. It aims to seize the paradox of the union of opposites; for instance, it challenges binary oppositions like life and death and the pre-colonial past versus the post-industrial present. According to Angel Flores, magical realism involves the fusion of the real and the fantastic, or as he claims, “an amalgamation of realism and fantasy.” The presence of the supernatural in magical realism is often connected to the primeval or magical “native” mentality, which exists in opposition to European rationality (See Myths of the Native<span>). According to Ray Verzasconi, as well as other critics, magical realism is “an expression of the New World reality which at once combines the rational elements of the European super-civilization, and the irrational elements of a primitive America.”  Gonzalez Echchevarria believes that magical realism offers a world view that is not based on natural or physical laws nor objective reality. However, the fictional world is not separated from reality either.</span>
