President Taft's administration was supposed to be an extension of Theodore Roosevelt's administration as he promised to continue the good works of the former president.

However, he came into office and sacked the cabinet ministers of Theodore Roosevelt and worked hard to undo Roosevelt's trust busting efforts.

This made Roosevelt so angry that he decided to run against his former ally.

On March 24, 1765, the British Parliament passed the Quartering Act, one of a series of measures primarily aimed at raising revenue from the British colonies in America. The act did require colonial governments to provide and pay for feeding and sheltering any troops stationed in their colony. The 1774 Quartering Act was disliked by the colonists, as it was clearly an infringement upon local authority. Yet opposition to the Quartering Act was mainly a part of opposition to the Intolerable Acts.
