“The are many reasons why one might be benefit from being aware of current events. Just a year ago, the world was hit with a deadly pandemic. If people didn’t watch the news and weren’t aware of the situation, they wouldn’t have taken the proper precautions to keep themselves and their families safe. If one wanted to go even farther, they could use the news to figure out how to help those more affected by any given situation than they are. Being up to date on current events is not only convenient, but necessary to create change. Even on a smaller scale, it can be helpful. Watching your local news stations can keep you up to date on different events going on in your community, such as farmers markets, festivals, etc. It’s just generally a good idea to stay current. The My Weekly Reader is the perfect tool for students to use to start building these habits early.”
