assuming you mean coordinating conjunction

they connect 2 independent clauses for example

I'm going shopping, but you can't come.

or

you need to go to sleep, so don't stay up to long

subordinating conjunctions are the ones who connect independent and dependent clauses

Even thought, now he is an adult and he is not able to come back. it seems that the "returning" to it is not literal but he is not able to go back to his childhood.
