Explain the central difference between main details and supporting details of a piece of writing.
mihalych1998 [28]
Main detail is the main point of your paragraph/essay. you want to be able to start and finish with that so it will remain within the reader thought for longer.
(We Brits have a saying "if a piece of literacy is stuck in your head, the writer has accomplished his or her goal" )
the supporting details are smaller points that correlate and support the main point. note that you should never start with a supporting point, nor should you ever end with one, it is simply there to extend and highlight the main detail. starting or ending with supporting details will ensure that the reader will almost instantaneously forget your essay and they may even find it boring because it doesn't show consistency.

Answer:

c. Beethoven

Explanation:

He is among the greatest and most enduringly popular of classical composers, and his influence is profound on subsequent Western art music. Ludwig van Beethoven composed his early works in the shadow of Mozart, and Joseph Haydn wrote: "posterity will not see such a talent again in 100 years".

skelet666 [1.2K]

Answer: A. Hawthorne is giving a lesson Franklin learned that readers might also profit from

Explanation:

Hawthorne is obviously not giving his own thoughts, since Franklin said this and it is a quote. He also cannot be trying to get young readers to relate because there is nothing in the excerpt about being a boy. Franklin probably had some experience and learned this lesson from it.

Bake Sale Tale

Today is the day I'm going to the bake sale for school. I jumped out of bed and got dressed quicker then a jack rabbit. As I walked downstairs I could already smell fresh chocolate chip cookies that Mom has been making for the bake sale. "Good morning!" I yelled with excitement . "Good morning sweetie." she replied. I looked over her shoulder at the gooey , warm brownies. I wanted to grab one, mom interrupted"No, these are for later and there not quite done yet." So she put the brownies back into the oven and started to clean a little. Hours passed and the brownies where done or so I thought...

Mom grabbed her purse and the brownies and got into the car so I followed. Once we where at the bake sell you could smell so many various aroma's such as pumpkin pie, sweet apple cobbler, and much more. When we got to our table Mom put the brownies on the table, and people started to gather around. Mom quickly took off the lid, and then I saw the brownies amass. "Oh no!" I said in a quite tone. Mom looked at me and said "Sorry, I guess it's still not finished. It was warm and perfect before we left."

Then I quickly started to convey, I looked at everyone's sweets and they where perfect. Everyone enjoyed theres, why did this happen to me? This isn't fair! I went to the Principal which she was the one who started the bake sell. I said in a sad tone "Can you please end the bake sale?" she replied "Why?" I told her "Well my brownies are undercooked, and can't be eaten." For a few minutes I tried to mediate the principal, but it didn't work. Suddenly Mom ran up to me with a new box of brownies. I shouted "You got more brownies?" Mom replied "Yes, I did!" We went back to the table and placed the brownies down, and a bunch of people amass around our table buying a brownie. I quickly reverted from my depressed state to being filled with joy. I hovered over the brownies with hungry intent.

Remember you may give up, but anything can happen so just wait. Things happen for a pretty good reason.

Hope I helped!

Good Luck!
