I need help The point (1, –5) is reflected across the y-axis.

Mathematics

4 0

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Then the x part of the point takes on the opposite sign that it currently has.

  • Right now it is 1. If it takes on the opposite sign, it becomes - 1
  • So the new point is (-1,-5).
  • Nothing happens to the - 5 when reflected across the y axis.

Average rate of change
Nana76 [90]

The average rate of change has a relationship with slopes. In this way, we can write the slope of a line as follows:

Slope=\frac{Change \ y}{Change \ x}

To find the Average Rate of Change (ARC), we need to compute the following:

ARC=\frac{s_{2}-s_{1}}{y_{2}-y_{1}}=slope \\ \\ where: \\ \\ s_{2}: Number \ of \ students \ in \ 2011 \\ s_{1}: Number \ of \ students \ in \ 2001 \\ \\ y_{2}: Year \ 2011 \\ y_{1}: Year \ 2001

So:

ARC=\frac{305-775}{2011-2001}=-47

As you can see we have a negative sign. This means that the enrollment at the college has been decreasing at a rate of 47 students per year.

Vertex (0,1) x intercepts is - 1 and 1 what is the equation of the parabola?
MrRa [10]
\bf y=a(x-{{ h}})^2+{{ k}}\\
x=a(y-{{ k}})^2+{{ h}}\qquad\qquad  vertex\ ({{ h}},{{ k}})

those are the vertex form of a parabola... so hmmm
the vertex of this one is at 0,1 and intercepts or "solutions" are at -1 and 1, so is opening downwards, notice the picture below

that means, the squared variable is the "x", thus the form is \bf y=a(x-{{ h}})^2+{{ k}}

now, we know the vertex is at 0,1, and two x-intercepts of \pm 1,0

thus      \bf y=a(x-{{ h}})^2+{{ k}}\qquad
\begin{cases}
h=0\\
k=1\\
when
\\
x=\pm 1\\
y=0
\end{cases}
\\\\\\
\textit{so.. hmmm let us use the point ... say hmmm 1,0}
\\\\
y=a(x-{{ h}})^2+{{ k}}\implies 0=a(1-0)^2+1

solve for "a", to see what that coefficient is, then plug it back in the vertex form equation

Show that the angles of an equalateral triangle are 60°each
topjm [15]

Answer:

For an equilateral triangle, we know that all 3 sides of the triangle are equal. Accordingly, all the 3 sides of the equilateral triangle hold equal angles.

Since, we know, that the sum of all angles of any triangle be 180° .

Let each angle be a.

Thus,

Hence, we can show that all the 3 angles of an equilateral triangle hold equal angles; i.e. 60°.
