Hello!

❖ I think Grayson didn't turn Maniac over to a doctor or a police because he might've wanted someone in his life. In the book it mentions how Grayson was alone and maybe he just wanted some company. Grayson also might've felt bad for Maniac because he was a kid who didn't have a home and was just roaming around.

I THINK the answer its just a general audience, your first option. So sorry if I'm totally off. I hope you have a great day!
The main idea of the September 1996 New York Times story is that Poe may have died of rabies.
The entire story tells of how we are mistaken when we think that Poe died drunk in a gutter wearing somebody else's clothes. Whereas it is true that he was wearing another man's clothes (having being robbed of his own), the first part is not true - according to Dr. Benitez, Poe had rabies and died in a hospital.
Montresor claims that his heart grew sick because of the dampness of the catacombs. Not because he murdered a person by entombing him behind a wall.
