What was the main idea of President Carter's
dangina [55]

"Americans expected the future to be worse than the past" was the main idea of President Carter's "Crisis of Confidence" speech.

Option: C

Explanation:

President Carter's address on "Crisis of Confidence" was triggered by the energy crisis and recession in the country. He himself was a strongly religious man, placed forth the notion that a moral and theological problem at its heart was America's dilemma.

A lack of social and spiritual confidence, as he put it, meant Americans found themselves too poor to pull themselves out of economic malaise, which was forcing them to imagine that future will be more devastating than the past. He also admitted a share of the blame himself, not being powerful enough in his governance on topics such as energy use and oil resource use.

Papessa [141]

Answer:

In what became known as the “long, hot summer” of 1967, injustice stemming from the frustrations of poverty and unemployment, the systematic denial of employment opportunities by white-owned businesses and city services by white-led municipal governments, and mistreatment by white or mostly white police forces led to explosive confrontations between black residents and the forces that oppressed them. The deadliest and most destructive riots took place in Newark, New Jersey, and Detroit, Michigan. However, even smaller cities, such as Cambridge, Maryland, experienced unrest. What follows are brief sketches of the violent episodes that gripped each of these cities during the summer of 1967.
