Why might government require that groups first obtain permits to parade or demonstrate

Social Studies

Governments might require that groups first obtain permits to parade or demonstrate because those events might block traffic or require detours for people trying to get to work, school, or to run errands. Permits are usually required because while most governments allow certain freedoms, that doesn't mean every citizen wants to partake in those freedoms all the time. As such, the government has to make sure that the different groups all feel comfortable with the situations.

How has the 1st Amendment affected everyday people's life?
SSSSS [86.1K]

The first amendment is probably the most important amendment there is. The first amendment is so important because it protects every person's right of freedom of religion and freedom of expression. This means that every American can pick what religion they want to be a part of without being stopped by the government. If we did not have the first amendment, it could be possible that someone could get thrown in jail for speaking badly about president or by going to church.
