Metaphor and/or Personification

Mrs. J Stuart White was sitting on the edge of her bed, just reaching to turn out the light when the ship seemed to roll over a thousand marbles.

Metaphor

Mrs. Albert Caldwell pictured a large dog that had a baby kitten in its mouth and was shaking it.

Simile

"I felt terrified and confused, this boat was said to be unsinkable. I guess they were wrong. I felt as if I was in a nightmare that I couldn't wake from."

Simile

"I was getting ready to go to bed when I heard something like a giant hand banging on the outside of the ship."

Personification

"I went out of my room, then I saw it, I saw a wall of water coming right for me. It was like Poseidon, the water god, sent water to kill me."

"When it hit, it felt like a volcano erupted but we did not know what it was."

"I was asleep, I jolted out of bed into a mountain of books that almost ate me alive when I fell into them."
