Assume that a population is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium for a particular gene with two alleles, A and a. The frequency of A is

p, and the frequency of a is q. Because these are the only two alleles for this gene, p + q = 1.0. If the frequency of homozygous recessive individuals (aa) is 0.04, what is the value of q? What is the value of p

Answer:

q = 0.2, p = 0.8

Explanation:

According to Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium,

p + q = 1

p² + 2pq + q² = 1 where,

p = frequency of dominant allele

q = frequency of recessive allele

p² = frequency of homozygous dominant genotype

2pq = frequency of heterozygous genotype

q² = frequency of homozygous recessive genotype

Here,

q² = aa = 0.04

q = √0.04 = 0.2

p = 1 - q

= 1 - 0.2

= 0.8

What type of data is analyzed to know the structure of the middle layers of the earth?
vlabodo [156]

The correct answer is seismic waves.

The middle layer of the Earth’s is called mantle. Mantle is dense and hot layer composed of silicate minerals. In the base of mantle secondary earthquakes disappear.

Seismic tomography is used for the imaging of this layer. It is an imaging technique that uses seismic waves generated by earthquakes to create images of Earth’s structure.

Beta ( β ) sheets are a type of secondary structure in proteins. A segment of a single chain in an antiparallel β sheet has a le
d1i1m1o1n [39]

Answer:

3.14 residues

Explanation:

This kind of sheets has the particularity that the distance between adjacent residues is 3.5 Angstroms. Furthermore, there are two residues per cycle.

Hence, we can calculate easily the number of residues in a segment, by using the expression:

Nr = (256 Å) / (3.5 Å/residue) = 3.14 residues

I hope this is useful for you
