I think the compromise of 1850 failed to solve the issue of slavery because since the compromise of 1850 acted as a temporary truce on the issue, the slave trade was outlawed in Washington D.C. In this case, people in the south was for slavery meaning they thought it was the right thing to do, other than the north, they wanted to abolish slavery, meaning it was wrong.
