The main differences are that the British Parliament exists at the same time as the Monarchy, and because of that there is a chair called “Throne” especially for the queen and there are benches for bishops. The Capitol does not have the same physical set up because there is no monarchy in America. In the front of the Senate there is the Vice President of the US and in Front of the House is the Speaker of the House

  • The United States is a Federation and the Great Britain is a Unitary State, this difference is the main reason between the US Capitol and the British Parliament. The US Capitol is the building that holds the two chambers of the House of Representatives and the Senate, because this was the way that the Framers had to settle representation of the States. The system was built so a small group can prevent the majority from passing laws and encourages the debate.
  • The British Parliament is made of two chambers the House of Lords and the House of Commons. The House of Commons is publicly elected. The House of Lords, known as the upper house is not elected, the membership is granted by appointment or by heredity or official function. Another difference is that the Parliament makes possible the quick turn because it makes possible frequent elections.

Motives for Exploration - Wealth and Religion. The motives for Spanish, French and English explorers were all different, although in some ways, they were the same. They all wanted to find the Northwest Passage, which they believed was a direct and efficient route to the Orient - home of spices, silks and wealth.
