A gas station sells unleaded regular and unleaded premium gasoline. The price per gallon charged by the station is$1.299 for unl

eaded regular and $1.379 for unleaded premium. The cost per gallon from supplier is$1.219 for unleaded regular and $1.289 for unleaded premium. If equals the number of gallons sold of regular and equals the number of gallons sold of premium:(a) Formulate the revenue function from selling and gallons of the two grades of gasoline respectively?(b) Formulate total cost for purchasing and gallons?(c) Formulate the total profit? d) what is the total profit expected to equal if the station sells 100,000 gallons of unleaded and regular and 40000 of unleaded premuim?

Answer:

a) Revenue function = 1.299r + 1.379p

where: r = gallon of unleaded regular gasoline and p = gallon of regular unleaded premium gasoline

b) cost function = 1.219f + 1.289p

c) profit function = (1.299r + 1.379p) - (1.219f + 1.289p) = 1.299r - 1.219r + 1.379p - 1.289p = 0.08p + 0.09p

d) total profit = (0.08 x 100,000) + (0.09 x 40,000) = $8,000 + $3,600 = $11,600

Which of the following could be the equation for a parabola that opens down with the vertex (-11,-28)?
Mekhanik [1.2K]

Answer:y=-5(x+11)^2 -28

Step-by-step explanation: Okay think about what you know about translations and transformations of parent functions. In this case, the parent function is x2. So what now?

First, the problem states that the parabola opens DOWN. This means that you should look for a negative leading coefficient. This narrows your options down to C or D. (-5 is the leading coefficient)

Now starting with the x2, the vertex would be at (0,0), but in this problem it is at (-11,-28). That means it was TRANSLATED 11 spots in the negative x-direction and 28 spots in the negative y-direction.

Look at your options, when a number is being added directly unto the x variable, such as in answer C, it moves in the negative x-direction. This tells you that C has to be your answer.

I hope that helps!

Use slope to determine if the following lines are parallel, perpendicular, or neither.
Gwar [14]

Answer:

The lines are parallel, with the same slope of 5.

Step-by-step explanation:

Remember that if slopes are the same, then the lines are parallel. If the slopes are opposite reciprocals, they are perpendicular. If they are neither of those cases, then they would be neither.

1) Since y = 5x + 1 is already in slope-intercept format (y = mx + b, in which m represents the slope) we know that 5 is the slope of that equation.

2) To find the slope of -5x + y = 6, let's just convert it to the slope-intercept format by isolating y on the left side like so:

-5x + y = 6 \\y = 5x + 6

(All you need to do is move -5x to the right side of the equation.) So, by looking at y = 5x + 6, we can do the same thing we did from step 1 and find that the slope is 5.

3) Since both of the equations' slopes are 5, they share the same slope - therefore, they are parallel.

Hope this helps! Please do not hesitate to ask any questions.
