I believe, the change in perspective actually led those people to try and abolish slavery.
Back then, most people believe that nothing wrong with slavery and view it as something normal that just happen in society. (which is also essential for plantation's operation)
But overtime, they started to see how the slaves were suffering and struggling for their freedom to the point that they started to understand the slaves' feeling and willing to join the fight for their freedom.

It is better to tell your employees the reason why you need the overture upfront. The majority of the employees are not stupid, and they will notice if they're being lied to. The truth on the other hand, showed them that you as an employer appreciate them as a human being
Both the Indian and the African congress were really huge congresses that both enjoyed having huge influences and power over their respective nations. Both congresses were also known to hold the ideologies of peaceful revolutions against the oppressive rulers. They believed that violence was not the answer and that peaceful negotiations can be done. Both also fought to remove the class system or the class division in their respective countries.
