Answer and Explanation:

Ebenezer Scrooge is the main character in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol". Scrooge is a grumpy old man who hates Christmas. He is also greedy and cold-hearted. Scrooge is visited by three ghosts who show him his past, present, and future. Victim of a neglected childhood, if Scrooge does not change his way of treating others, he will end up dying alone.

How do you think Scrooge changed his life after these experiences with the ghosts?

I believe the ghosts helped Scrooge understand the reasons behind his grumpiness. He was neglected by his father as a child, so his aggressive behavior toward others is but a way of protecting himself and his feelings. He is just trying to keep suffering at bay. However justifiable his behavior is, it is keeping people away from Scrooge. He will end up dying alone after driving everyone, even his own family, away.

Now that he is aware of that, Scrooge is likely to be kinder and more patient. Instead of being greedy, he will help others with his money. Instead of being grumpy, he will be joyful. I imagine Scrooge becomes the complete opposite of the person he was at the beginning of the story. He will greet others with a smile, wish them a happy Christmas, invite his family over for dinner, give away presents, etc. For the rest of his life, Scrooge will be surrounded by people.

Read the excerpt below from the poem “Ulalume” by Edgar Allan Poe and answer the question that follows.
harina [27]

Alliteration is the repetition of a word of sound within the same phrase, such as "Ulalume"; Asonance is a vowel coincidence in the termination of two words, such as "it was night in the lonesome october

of my most immemorial year"; the consonance is an unmotivated use of words that are very close for each other, such as " we noted not the dim lake of Auber- (though once we had journeyed down here)"; and the poetic image describes something real through words, such as "these are days when my heart was volcanic", which explains his heart beats too strong.

The words geology, georgic, and geode share a common root word. Based on that root word, what do all three words have in common?
Andre45 [30]

The correct answer is A. Earth

Explanation:

A root word is a word by itself which can be combined with suffixes and prefixes to create new words, thus root words cannot be shortened but by adding other words or letter before or after them new words are created by mixing the meaning of the root word and the word, syllable or letter added. The words geology, georgic and geode have a common root word which is geo and which is combined with different suffixes such as -logy, -ergic and -de to create new words. The root word geo derives from Greek and means earth, ground or land, as mentioned before the root word is combined with suffixes to create new meanings in this way -logy means the science or study of something which means geology is the study of earth or land; -ergic means produce by, which means georgic is a poem produced or inspired by land (agriculture ) and the suffix -ede means separation which is links to geode definition which is a formation of rocks. Thus, the root word geology, georgic, and geode share is "geo" which means Earth.
