why does jonas think about his experience on the playing field after watching his father release the baby?
docker41 [41]
Jonas thinks about his experience on the playing field after watching his father release the baby because it was another instance of the community members not truly grasping the concept of death. His friends couldn’t understand that war was a serious matter because it involved suffering and death because they couldn’t understand why those were so bad, and his father couldn’t understand that the death of the baby just because it was slightly smaller than its twin was significant because he couldn’t understand the grave (pun unintended) significance of death. 1. What are some allusions in "Goodbye to all that" by Joan Didion? Explain why it is an allusion and what is the purpose of usi
Oduvanchick [21]

1. I read the whole essay and the only allusion that she uses is Xanadu. Joan Didion writes, nobody lives at Xanadu meaning nobody lives in the paradise.

Allusion is a brief and indirect reference to a person, place, thing or idea of historical, cultural, literary or political significance. It does not tell in detail the thing, idea, place or person.

Xanadu is a mitical place. It is located in the north of Shangri La that was introduced in 1933 in the fictional novel Lost Horizon by author James Hilton

2.- The symbol that Joan Didion uses is that nobody lives at Xanadu that it is paradise on earth for her because New York was appealing to the author even though she was not well paid and didn't have the best food on the table.
