In the space between sedimentary and metamorphic and igneous to metamorphic rock the answer is pressure and heat.

From magma and igneous is crystallization.

In between igneous and sediment and from sedimentary/metamorphic to sediment is erosion and weathering.

From metamorphic rock and magma and from igneous/sedimentary  to magma is melting.
