A mixture of 14.2 g of H2 and 36.7 g of Ar is placed in a 100.0 L container at
TiliK225 [7]

a) The total pressure of the system is 1.79 atm

b) The mole fraction and partial pressure of hydrogen is 0.89 and 1.59 atm respectively

c) The mole fraction and the partial pressure of argon is 0.11 and 0.19 atm.

What is the total pressure?

We know tat we can be able to obtain the total pressure in the system by the use of the ideal gas equation. We would have from the equation;

PV = nRT

P = pressure

V = volume

n = Number of moles

R = gas constant

T = temperature

Number of moles of hydrogen = 14.2 g/2g = 7.1 moles

Number of moles of Argon = 36.7 g/40 g/mol

= 0.92 moles

Total number of moles = 7.1 moles + 0.92 moles = 8.02 moles

Then;

P = nRT/V

P = 8.02 * 0.082 * 273/100

P = 1.79 atm

Mole fraction of hydrogen = 7.1/8.02 = 0.89

Partial pressure of hydrogen = 0.89 * 1.79 atm

= 1.59 atm

Mole fraction of argon = 0.92 / 8.02

= 0.11

Partial pressure of argon = 0.11 * 1.79 atm

= 0.19 atm

What could a scientist do to determine what era the Eocene period belongs to on the geologic timescale?
Aleks [24]

Answer:

Study information related to the Cenozoic era

Explanation:

Answer:

Study information related to the Cenozoic era

Explanation:

Eocene can be categorized as early epochs, It comes after the Paleocene Epoch and precedes the Oligocene Epoch. Eocene got it's origin from the Greek eos meaning ( Dawn). The beginning of Eocene produce the two appearance of two new groups of animals among the terrestrial vertebrates which are; the artiodactyls and the perissodactyls.

Eocene Epoch is reffered to as the second epoch in the order of the division of Cenozoic period . therefore, there is need for scientist to study information related to the Cenozoic era in other to know the geological time scale Eocene belongs to.

How many electrons in an atom can have each of the following quantum number or sublevel designations?
storchak [24]

10 electrons in an atom can have each of the 3d quantum number or sublevel designations.

What are four quantum numbers?

Quantum numbers are used to characterize the values of conserved quantities in a quantum system's dynamics in both quantum physics and chemistry.

1) The "n" sign refers to the principal quantum number. It shows how many shells there are.

2) The "l" sign indicates the azimuthal quantum number. It gives the form of the orbitals and their angular momentum. 0 to n-1 make up its range.

3) "m_{l}" stands for the magnetic quantum number. It serves as a cue for spatial orientation. The range of it is -l to +l.

4) Spin quantum number, represented by the symbol "m_{s}". It shows how the electron is spinning.
