If we are talking about the US, this may be false, but is not the same in the rest of the world. Their still are a lot of countries that have highly patriarchal systems, where the men have more "value" than the women for a lot of career paths.

So if the sentence only applies for the US, the sentence may be false, but if it applies for the whole world, this is true.

If we even talk about the situation in the US and other developed countries, is not rare to see that women have more hard times to get certain jobs, and being respected in them.
