are a Muslim people of mixed Arab and Berber stock coming from northwestern Africa. They invaded Spain and occupied it for 700 y
nordsb [41]

These are the Mourus. From the year 711 the Iberian Peninsula witnesses one of its most important events: the Muslim invasion, responsible for a radical change in the economic, social and cultural panorama of what would later be Portugal and Spain.

The invaders actually constituted a mixed force consisting of Syrians, Egyptians, Persians and Berbers, that is, a joint force of the entire Islamic world at the time, which was in full expansion. Commanded by a Tarique, such forces cross the Strait of Gibraltar, and penetrate deeply into the Peninsula occupying it almost entirely about three years later.

Give an example of how politicians have clouded the issue of the cause of the Civil War?
lara31 [8.8K]

Answer:

Give an example of how politicians have clouded the issue of the cause of the Civil War?

Explanation:

<u><em>Contrary to the widespread idea that abolition was one of the reasons why the Northerners responded to the war</em></u>, <u>Sutherland believes that, at the beginning, slavery was the least serious problem</u>.

<u>"It was not until the middle of the war, and for a variety of political, military and diplomatic reasons, that abolition joined the main cause of the war in northern thought, which was always the preservation of the Union. , many northerners opposed to fight for the abolition and they did not have intentions to defend the racial justice "</u>, <em><u>maintains</u></em>.

<u><em>Silber assures that although some consider today that the slaves</em></u> <u>"fought in defense of the 'rights of the states' of the south, in fact they were always explicit in that they fought to maintain the slavery and a system of white supremacy"</u>.

which statement describes a difference between authoritarian government and constitutional government?
vodomira [7]

"Authoritian doesn't mean dictatorship, although a prevalent form of it is a dictatorship. I'll look into my political science notes and tell you later all the elements of both.

Edit: My notes + what is on the internet
Authoritarian states are states in which either one person or a group of people rule through a mandate, not through free elections. Also, whatever they say goes. Examples of authoritarian states are oligarchies (rule by a group of elites), dictatorships (rule by one person as the leader), absolute monarchies (where the ruler inherits his/her power by bloodline and rules w/o any limitation; not to be confused with constitutional monarchies), juntas (rule by the military), and theocracies (rule by the state religion's leaders). There are 51 authoritarian states today. North Korea is the most authoritarian state.

In a democracy, they have elections with the following elements: free from coercion, fairly applying the rules, and open to all its citizen. Also, they have basic human rights involved as part of the rights of people. From there, there is many flavors of democracy (e.g., parliamentary/presidential, divisions of state rights/no division at all, set elections/can call election at anytime, etc.) There are 30 full democracies and 50 flawed democracies in the world today. Sweden is the most democratic nation.

Hybrid regime is where they don't have enough elements to be considered a democracy, but they are clearly not authoritarian either. There are 36 hybrid regimes, with Albania being the closest to a democracy and with Iraq being the closest to an authoritian state.

(All examples by country taken from a 2008 ranking of Democracy Index; situations might have changed since but this is the most current ranking).   lol was looking at the same notes "
