Almost anything that happens is a historical record of everything else. Interpretations may change on evidence found or other discoveries, example: the theory of plant cells has changed as more and more people discover more and more complex things, or how the list of suspects changes throughout an investigation.

Once his diseases started taking over, many people must have felt scared with so many dying. Also, they tried to teach him how to plant and wanted to trade. Columbus had plans to capture them and make them slaves (and some I'm pretty sure he did) so soon the natives realized that he was not very friendly.
