Stevens also proclaimed Hawaii as U.S Protectorate.</u> Treaty of the annexation of Hawaii was submitted by Dole in the US Senate but the majority of the Democrats were against it as the majority of people of Hawaii were against Annexation. But during the Spanish-American war, there was the strategic use of Pearl Harbour which led to the victory of the United States and taking that into notice, The US Senate agreed to annex Hawaii and it became the 50th state of the United States.
