Given that the plot is set in the nineteenth century, and that it is pretty realistic, I can safely conclude that the correct answer is 'realism'. The other answers don't fit, theme-wise, and the era they originated in: classicism and romanticism were before the 19th c., and postmodernism started in the 20th.
