Where did the term manifest destiny start to appear?
Gelneren [198K]
Manifest Destiny summary: In the 19th century US, Manifest Destiny was a belief that was widely held that the destiny of American settlers was to expand and move across the continent to spread their traditions and their institutions, while at the same time enlightening more primitive nations. And the American settlers of the time considered Indians and Hispanics to be inferior and therefore deserving of cultivation. The settlers considered the United States to be the best possible way to organize a country so they felt the need to remake the world in the image of their own country.

What was Thorstein Bunde Veblen thoughts on “typical ways of thinking” and civilization in general?
lapo4ka [179]

Thorstein Bunde Veblen thoughts on “typical ways of thinking” and civilization, in general, are found in his sociological theory which suggests that all communities are organized in a manner that goods, tangible and intangible, symbolic and material are distributed. He views such distribution as unequal and necessarily involves power. Status groups make up the social order while the classes make up the economic order and parties the political order. Each order is affected or affects the other.

List 3 similarities between antebellum era republicans and gilded age republicans
andrew-mc [135]
Both are pro-factory business and are willing to use government dollars to help infrastructure needed to aid that business, such as canals, railroads, telegraphs, etc.

Both are more likely to support immigrant populations as they are cheaper to employ and will help fill the needed void for factory work.

Both groups were anti-temperance groups. Neither supported a growing push toward moral controls of individuals within the country in particular those connected to the side effects of industrialization.
