If f(x)=3x+1 and g(x)=x^2-6 find (f-g)(x)
8090 [49]
Hi there!

• f(x) = 3x + 1
• g(x) = x² - 6

Then,
According to th' question :-

(f - g)(x) = f(x) - g(x)

= 3x + 1 - (x² - 6)

= 3x + 1 - x² + 6

= -x² + 3x + 7

Hence,
Option 2ⁿᵈ : -x² + 3x + 7 is Correct.

~ Hope it helps!

Answer:

the possible line of best fit equation is;

y = 10x + 24

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, we want to get the approximate line of best fit

Mathematically, we have the general line of best fit as

y = mx + b

where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept

By joining the given lines, we can see that the y-intercept values fall a little below 30

This means that the possible y-intercept value is 24

Now, to get the slope value, we select any two points and use the slope equation

We can have (3,50) and (6,80)

Using the slope equation;

m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) = (80-50)/(6-3) = 30/3 = 10

The equation is thus;

y = 10x + 24

Answer:

A) Slope =

m =  \frac{1}{4} x

explanation:

Take 2 random points off the line, I used (4,1) & (8,2)

The formula to find the slope when given 2 points is

m  =  \frac{rise}{run}  =  \frac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x1}

so in this case x1 & y1 are assigned to (4,1)

  • 4 = x1
  • 1 = y1

and x2 & y2 are assigned to (8,2)

  • 8 = x2
  • 2 = y2

so substitute the numbers into the formula and solve !

m= \frac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x1}  =  \frac{2 - 1}{8 - 4}  =  \frac{1}{4}

this will result in the answer I got above!!

B) yes it does show a constant rate of change cause it's increasing in 1/4x intervals

C) just because you move the placement of a line on the graph doesn't mean it's going to effect the slope as long as the numbers on the axis don't change!!

Find the area of a triangle where the base is 3 3/4 in and the height is 4 inches.
sergeinik [125]
A=30
Multiply base times height and then divide by 1/2
(3 3/4)(4)=15
15/(1/2) = 30
