On January, 20, 1942, Reinhard Heydrich, Himmler's second in command of the SS, convened the Wannsee Conference<span> in Berlin with 15 top Nazi bureaucrats to coordinate the </span>Final Solution<span> (Endlösung) in which the Nazis would attempt to exterminate the entire Jewish population of Europe, an estimated 11 million persons.</span>
Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa was the 5th of 21 missions built in California. It was founded by Father Junipero Serra in 1772. The mission site was chosen by Serra after he returned to his home-base mission in Carmel and the food supply began to dwindle along with support for the mission<span> effort from Spain.
