The Battle of Nashville was fought in December 1864 and was an attempt by Union forces to break the Confederate Army of Tennessee under General John Bell Hood that had resisted in northern Alabama and in at least three battles: Hoover's Gap and Franklin and Nashville

This forced his troops to withdraw northwest towards Waldron’s Point.
