Explain the ways humans have influenced the traits in corn plants and the impacts each biotechnology has had Many of the types o

f corn found in grocery stores were originally bred for their taste and productivity. But these varieties are often threatened by pests. This makes it harder for farmers to produce enough com. Scientists have used genetic engineering to make GMO corn plants that are resistant to pests. In one type of GMO plant, they added genes from bacteria that live in soil. The genes let the GMO plants produce a bacterial protein that kills certain insects.

Answer:

With the advancement of technology, the development of biotechnology began. Biotechnology is defined as the use of living organisms for a specific purpose.

The most familiar uses of biotechnology include pharmaceutical companies that create drugs for rare diseases, the transformation of biomass into fuel to power cars and buildings, and the use of enzymes to clean up oil spills.

Answer: The influence humans have had on the traits in corn is kinda big because they have made corn with a sweet taste and one with its own toxin for insects. Biotechnologies impact is big because before farmers corn crops were threatened by insects but now the corn makes pesticide thanks to biotechnology.

Which adaptation is the likely result of convergent evolution?
bezimeni [28]

A result of convergent evolution are the webbed feet of ducks and frogs.

Explanation:

The evolution of the animals, or rather the development of adaptive features, works in very interesting manner. It is very common in nature that animals that are closely related do not share similar characteristics, or the opposite, animals that are not closely related but share similar characteristics. The later case, is referred to as convergent evolution, where totally different animals have developed the same or very similar characteristics in order to be better suited for their environment.

In this case we have the ducks and frogs, and the webbed feet as shared adaptations, or feature. The ducks are birds, while the frogs are amphibians, and their last common ancestor has lived hundreds of millions of years ago. Despite that, both animals have developed webbed feet, and the reason for this has been that both animals have faced the same challenge, swimming and diving, and the webbed feet help them to be much faster and more agile in the water.

Other examples of convergent evolution (in the present and in the past) are:

 • Hyena - Tasmanian devil
 • Sandy cat - Fenec fox
 • Smilodon - Thylacosmilus
 • Bats - Birds

Which of the following is NOT a process that drives the carbon cycle?
stiks02 [169]

"Ammonification" is NOT a process that drives the carbon cycle.

Option: B

Explanation:

The organisms circulate carbon-di-oxide in carbon cycle by going through respiration, decomposition, sedimentation, and photosynthesis process but not ammonification. Basically the actual source of nitrogen is agricultural, when a plant or animal passes or an animal disperses waste.

In the remains, bacteria or fungi turn the organic nitrogen back into ammonium, a cycle called ammonisation or mineralisation. Then the micro-organisms generate metabolically required energy from organic nitrogen oxidation into ammonium. Ammonium is then essential for assimilation and absorption into amino acids or for use in other metabolic applications.
