yes absolutely, but only when they have the power to influence others. if you look at hitler as an example he didn’t do that on his own, he was able to gain the trust of people just as he started out, then was able to keep people’s support. All it takes to change history is one person who can make others trust them.

Southern: Slavery was supported, mostly (our idea of) republican, their economy was based on plantations and slaves

What could cause you to lose your citizenship of a certain country would be if you decided to betray your country for some reason in some way. This could be done in multiple fashions, one being if you're in the army and you give out a top military secret. This cold make you lose citizenship.
