Scholars ie those who for example look into history and study the features of say ancient civilizations, are partly evaluating different methods of doing things that different peoples used say in the past. An example could be, in my case of studying the ancient mining practices of the 1500's is that the clues to the methods were learned by a famous doctor Georgius Agricola who studied the methods like setting fires underground to break the rock (before explosives) and by studying the machines the early miners used to dewater the mines ie pumps powered by waterwheels for example.

What happened in 1853 to transform Port Townsend from a small logging village to a prosperous town?
yKpoI14uk [10]

I believe none of the options that have been included are accurate. Port Townsend, located in a corner of the Olympic Peninsula, in the state of Washington, became, in 1853, the official port of entry once the district custom house was moved there from the capital, Olympia. The city, which would soon be known as The City of Dreams, was, for a few decades, the region's main port and trading center.
