Sara has 10 1/2 feet of ribbon to make bows. Each bow requires 1 3/4 yards of ribbon. How many bows can Sara make?
Alex73 [517]

Sara can make two bows. To get this answer, you take 10 1/2 feet and convert it to yards. 3 feet are 1 yard, or 1 feet is 0.333 yards. Consequently, 10 1/2 or 10.5 feet are 3.5 yards (10.5 x 0.333) and Sara has 3.5 yards of ribbon. If each bow requires 1 3/4 or 1.75 yards, Sara can make two bows (3.5 / 1.75).
