The messenger shares entire truthfulness to Eurydice, especially when mentioning that he wont leave out a single detail of the truth.

He mentions this because he prompts why should he ease her mind with an incorrect report, and then suggesting the truth is always best. He shares that he went to the plain, as a guide for her husband and saw from far that Polyneices' dead body was torn apart from dogs. They prayed to Plute and Hecate for restraining the dogs' rage, and then gave a semi-good treatment of the dead body through washing it and burned the remnants on branches.
