The act forcing soldiers from other country to Serve in their own military's is only common in two countries: Great Britain and  Ireland. Between the two, Royal Navy is the term that is used by Great Britain. Irish soldiers usually refer to their Navy as The Irish Squadron.

Great Britain began this practice in mid 1600s. In 1800s, This practice received a lot of international Criticism since it's force a soldier to violate their patriotic feeling for his mother land. Britain ended this practice in 1815.
