The major cause of shifts in political allegiance during this time came from the Great Depression, which required strong government intervention to correct the issue. These interventions became commonly ascociated with the Democratic Party, thanks to FDR.
The first phase was to get the public to believe in the propaganda that the Jews were behind all the financial troubles and woes of the German state. While the public ate up every word of it it became more evident there were hate crimes against Jews. Such as the marking of those who were Jewish with the Star of David.
