Answer: Ruminants have complex digestive system.

Explanation:

Rumen: It is a sac like structure and first region of the stomach of the cow. It is connected with the esophagus. It forms the storage of the food and convert the food in the form of ball called cud.

Reticulum: It is a honeycomb like structure. It is attached with rumen. It holds and stores the heavy and dense components of the food.

Omasum: It lined with folds of tissues. It absorbs water and nutrients form the food.

Abomasum: It is called true stomach as it operate similar to non-ruminant animals. It secretes hydrochloric acid and enzymes to break down and help in feeding food.

Describe the structure of mitochondria and explain their role in respiration .
oksano4ka [1.4K]
The mitochondria is a double membraned organelle, the inner of these membranes is invaginated to form structures called cristae. The fluid inside is called the mitochondrial matrix. The mitochondria has a pivotal role in the creation of ATP in aerobic cellular respiration. Glycolysis occurs outside the mitochondria, producing pyruvate and ATP, the pyruvate endures the link reaction on its way into the mitochondrial matrix and turns into acetyl co enzyme A. This acetyl group is used in the matrix in what is called Krebs cycle, where the oxidation of acetyl groups is coupled with the reduction of hydrogen carriers. The products of Krebs cycle are then transported to the electron transport chain on the cristae where the reduced NADH and FADH are then oxidized. The remaining hydrogen electrons are transported down the chain where an oxygen molecule is reduced to water. Chemiosmosis also occurs at the electron transport chain, in which hydrogen protons move down the concentration gradient (from the inner mitochondrion membrane) through an ATP synthase where ATP is generated. The multiple folds inside the mitochondria which are the cristae, mean that there is plenty of surface area for cellular respirations to occur at.

"the medulla, the pons, and the cerebellum are three main parts of the ______."
MA_775_DIABLO [31]

The medulla, pons, and the cerebellum are three main parts of the hindbrain.

Brain is the centre of the nervous system. It is enclosed in the skull cranium. The primary regions of the brain are the forebrain, midbrain and the hindbrain. The forebrain consists of the cerebrum and diencephalon. The midbrain is a small tubular region between the forebrain and the hindbrain. The hindbrain is made up of the medulla oblongata, pons and cerebellum.

Cerebellum is the second largest portion of the brain which helps in maintaining the body's equillibrium, coordinates muscular movements and body posture. Pons is the structure located in the brain stem which relays impulses from medulla to cerebellum and vice versa. Medulla oblongata is the lowest part of the brain stem controlling involuntary reflexes and has the respiratory and cardiac centres in it controlling respiration and heart beats respectively.
