Even tho' this problem requires an inequality, let's write equations instead:

Nick's money:  $40 - ($1.50 / day)(x)              where x represents # of days
Bob's Money:   $ 9 + ($1.50 / day)(x)

Equate these two expressions:   40 - 1.50x = 9 + 1.50x

Then 31 = 3.00x, and x = 31/3 = 10 1/3 days

The two boys will have the same amount after 10 1/3 days; after that, Bob will have more (since he continues to receive an allowance and Nick continues to spend the money he already has).

5 days nick will have 32.50 dollars and Bob will have 16.5.
After 10 days nick will have 25 dollars and Bob will have 24 dollars
On the 11th day Nick will have 23.50 dollars and Bob will have 25.5 dollars.
It will take bob 11 days to have more money than nick.

Step-by-step explanation:

7:2

14:4

28:8

56:16

Divide the first number by 7 then multiply it by 2.

Example: 56/7=8, 8*2=16 so it's correct.

How to
Write 1620 as a product of its prime factors.
natima [27]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The orange divisor(s) above are the prime factors of the number 1,620. If we put all of it together we have the factors 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 5 = 1,620. It can also be written in exponential form as 22 x 34 x 51.

Kurt and Maria's high school is having a newspaper drive.The goal is to collect 3,585 pounds of newspapers. So far, 21% of the g
Novay_Z [31]

Options:

Who is right, and why?

a. Neither Kurt nor Maria is right, because 3,500 should be used instead of 3,600.

b. Kurt is right, because finding 1/5 of 3,600 is not a good way to approximate 21% of 3,585.

c. Maria is right, because finding 10% of 3,600 and multiplying the result by 2 is not a good way to approximate 21% of 3,585.

d. Both Kurt and Maria are right, because 3,585 should be rounded up to 3,600, and 21% of this amount can be approximated by either finding 10% of 3,600 and multiplying the result by 2 or by finding 1/5 of 3,600.

Answer:

d. Both Kurt and Maria are right, because 3,585 should be rounded up to 3,600, and 21% of this amount can be approximated by either finding 10% of 3,600 and multiplying the result by 2 or by finding 1/5 of 3,600.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Goal = 3585

Collected = 21\%

Kurt= 10\% * 3600 * 2

Maria = \frac{1}{5} * 3600

Required [Missing from the question]

Who is correct and why?

First, we calculate the actual amount collected.

Actual = Collected * Goal

Actual = 21\% * 3585

Actual = 752.85

Actual = 753 --- approximate

Next, determine the estimate (round 3585 to 3600 and 21% to 20%)

Estimate = 20\% * 3600

Estimate = 720

Next, calculate Kurt and Maria's estimates

Kurt= 10\% * 3600 * 2

Kurt = 720

Maria = \frac{1}{5} * 3600

Maria = 720

Hence, Kurt and Maria are correct because of option (d)

Answer:

The answer to your question is given below.

Step-by-step explanation:

To which of the above expression is a sum or difference of cube, or not a sum or difference of cube, we shall do the following simplification:

Note: The Cube root of a particular number is simply a multiplication of an identical number in three places.

64x³ – 216

64 has a cube root of 4 and 216 has a cube root of 6. Therefore, the above expression can be written as:

4³x³ – 6³

(4x)³ – 6³

64x³ – 216 = (4x)³ – 6³

Therefore, 64x³ – 216 can be expressed as a difference of cube.

8x^9 + 27

8 has a cube root of 2, x^9 has a cube root of x³ and 27 has a

cube root of 3. Therefore, the above expression can be written as:

2³(x³)³ + 3³

(2x³)³ + 3³

8x^9 + 27 = (2x³)³ + 3³

8x^9 + 27 can be expreessed as a sum of cube

x³ + 125

125 has a cube root of 5. Therefore, the above expression can be written as:

x³ + 5³

x³ + 125 = x³ + 5³

x³ + 125 can be expressed as a sum of cube

36x³ + 121

36 and 121 has no cube root. Therefore, the above expression is not a sum or difference of cube.

x^6 – 16

x^6 has a cube root of x² and 16 has no cube root. Therefore, the above expression is not a sum or difference of cube.

Summary:

Sum or Difference of cubes

64x³ – 216

8x^9 + 27

x³ + 125

Not a Sum or Difference of cubes

36x³ + 121

x^6 – 16
