If y varies directly as (x+3) and inversely as (x-3) and y=21 when x=4, what is the equation for y in terms of x?
igor_vitrenko [27]
\bf \qquad \qquad \textit{double proportional variation}
\\\\
\begin{array}{llll}
\textit{\underline{y} varies directly with \underline{x}}\\
\textit{and inversely with \underline{z}}
\end{array}\implies y=\cfrac{kx}{z}\impliedby
\begin{array}{llll}
k=constant\ of\\
\qquad  variation
\end{array}\\\\
-------------------------------\\\\

\bf \textit{\underline{y} varies directly as (x+3) and inversely as (x-3)}\implies y=\cfrac{k(x+3)}{x-3}
\\\\\\
\textit{we also know that }
\begin{cases}
y=21\\
x=4
\end{cases}\implies 21=\cfrac{k(4+3)}{4-3}\implies 21=\cfrac{k(7)}{1}
\\\\\\
\cfrac{21}{7}=k\implies 3=k\qquad thus\qquad \qquad \boxed{y=\cfrac{3(x+3)}{x-3}}

If there are 2.2 pounds in 1 kilogram how many pounds are there in x kilograms?
nirvana33 [79]

Answer:

P=x/2.2

Step-by-step explanation:

We can create an equation to solve this.

Let the number of pounds be P

Let the number of kilograms be X

Now, we know that for 1 kilogram, there is 2.2 pounds.

Therefore if we have 1 kilogram (X) then we will have 2.2 pounds (P).

<u>X=2.2P</u>

All you have to do now is rearrange the equation to find the number of pounds in x kilograms. To do this divide both sides by 2.

Therefore you will get P=x/2.2

WILL GIVE BRAINLIEST HELP!!
Lera25 [3.4K]
Answer is : \sqrt[4]{5}

Explanation:
\frac{ \sqrt[4]{400}}{ \sqrt[4]{5}} = \frac{ \sqrt[4]{4*5*5*2*2} }{\sqrt[4]{5}}

= \frac{\sqrt[4]{5*5*2*2*4}}{\sqrt[4]{5}} =  \sqrt[4]{5*2*2*4}

= \sqrt[4]{5*2*2*4} =  \sqrt[4]{80}
= \sqrt[4]{2*2*2*2*5}
= \sqrt[4]{2^{4}} \sqrt[4]{5}
= \sqrt[4]{5}
