Well, 2 quarters would be 2/4 so 1/2 simplified
then 1/2 + 1/2 would equal 1 cup

There are 2 cups in a pint and 2 pints in quart. So if there are 2 quarts that means 4 cups of water. Now add the 1/2 cup of lemon juice and you get 4 1/2 cups.
