leptotene is the first step of prophase 2 of meiosis 2 during gamete formation in which all the chromatin fibres converted to thin and thread like chromosome . one more thing which is an extra is that in animals these chromosomes during leptotene shift(inside the nucleus) towards the centriole(present outside the nucleus) and form a bouquet like structure while in plants due to lack of centriole these chromosomes during leptotene concentrate at one corner of the nucleus which is called Cynigesis .
