Formal language does not use colloquialisms, contractions or first person pronouns such as 'I' or 'We'. Informal language is more casual. It is used when communicating with friends or family either in writing or in conversation. ... The tone of informal language is more personal than formal language.

So formal language is very official and does not have apostrophes like "we've got to go now!" it is more like "We have to leave tomorrow morning" so it is very serious and more posh.

However informal is very normal language one may use: like the "yeah innit" kind of thing.
