andre [41]

Answer:

$7,056.83

Step-by-step explanation:

Rewrite given data in the following table:

\begin{array}{ccc}\text{Operation}&\text{Amount}&\text{Mathematical operation}\\\text{Beginning balance}&\$9,145.87$\\\text{Made deposit}&\$2,783.71&"+"\\\text{Wrote checks}&\$4,871.90&"-"\\\text{Paid a maintenance fee}&\$12&"-"\\\text{Earned interest}&\$11.15&"+"\end{array}

To find the balance at the end of the month, complete all mathematical operations:

\$9,145.87+\$2,783.71-\$4,871.90-\$12+\$11.15=\$7,056.83

3) Mr. Brust is addicted to Red Bull and has decided that he wants to plaster his room at school with Red Bull cans.
Bogdan [553]

Mr. Brust needs 427 cans to cover the wall of dimensions 20 feet long and 9 feet tall.

<h3>What is area of rectangle?</h3>

Area of rectangle is the product of its sides

i.e., Area of rectangle = length  x breadth

<h3>What is area of circle?</h3>

The area of a circle is pi times the radius squared (A = π r²).

<h3>What is circumference of circle?</h3>

The circumference of a circle is defined as the linear distance around it.

( C= 2πr)

The can of red bull is in shape of cylinder.

If we open the cylinder it will have two circular surfaces( at bottom and top) and one rectangular sheet.

Like the given figure given.

  • The can is 6.5 inches tall and has a diameter of about 2.5 inches.

It shows that the two circle will have the diameter 2.5 inches.

d= 2.5 inch

 = 0.208 ft

radius, r= \frac{d}{2}

r= \frac{0.208}{2}

r= 0.104 ft

  • To get the length of the rectangle , we have to calculate the circumference of the circle.

Circumference of the circle be,

= 2πr

= 2 x 3.14 x 0.104

= 0.653 ft

The rectangular sheet will have,

length=  0.653 ft, breadth= 6.5 inches = 0.541 ft

  • Now, area of rectangular sheet be,

      = length x breadth

      = 0.653 x 0.541

      =0.3532  ft^{2}

  • Area of 2 circle( top and bottom of can) be,

       = 2 x πr^{2}

       = 2 x 3.14 x 0.104 x 0.104

       = 6.28 x 0.010816

       = 0.0679 ft^{2}

  • Total area of can be,

        = Area of rectangular sheet + Area of 2 circle( top and bottom of can)

        = 0.3532 + 0.0679

        = 0.4211 ft^{2}

Now, we have the wall of dimensions

length= 9 ft, breadth= 20 ft

  • Area of wall be,

= length x breadth

=9 x 20

= 180 ft^{2}

  • Number of cans required to cover the whole wall be,

         =\frac{area \;of\; wall}{area \;of\; can}

         =\frac{180}{0.4211}

         = 427.45 cans

         ≈ 428 cans

Shelly and Jamie participate in a street relay race. Jamie must run from point B along AB⌢, which represents part of a roundabou
Gwar [14]

Answer:

Jamie must sprint 107 meter to pass Shelly at point A.

Step-by-step explanation:

Circumference of a sector of the circle is represented by,

Circumference = \frac{\theta}{360}(2\pi r)

where θ = central angle subtended at the center by an arc

r = radius of the circle

m(\widehat{AB}) = \frac{123}{360}(2\pi )(50)

           = 34.1667π

           = 107.34 meter

           ≈ 107 meter

Therefore, Jamie must sprint 107 meter to pass Shelly at point A.

Two vertical poles of heights 60 ft and 80 ft stand on level ground, with their bases 100 ft apart. A cable that is stretched fr
Andreyy89

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

height of two Poles are 60 and 80 ft

Distance between them is 100 ft

Let x be the distance of Pole of ht 80 ft from Point of stretch

thus length of rope is given by

L=L_1+L_2

L_1=\sqrt{80^2+x^2}

L_2=\sqrt{60^2+(100-x)^2}

L=\sqrt{80^2+x^2}+\sqrt{60^2+(100-x)^2}

differentiate w.r.t x we get

\frac{\mathrm{d} L}{\mathrm{d} x}=\frac{2x}{2\sqrt{80^2+x^2}}-\frac{2\left ( 100-x\right )}{\sqrt{60^2+\left ( 100-2x\right )^2}}

Put \frac{\mathrm{d} L}{\mathrm{d} x}=0 to get minimum value

\frac{2x}{2\sqrt{80^2+x^2}}=\frac{2\left ( 100-x\right )}{\sqrt{60^2+\left ( 100-2x\right )^2}}

squaring

x^2\left ( (100-x)^2+60^2\right )=(100-x)^2(80^2+x^2)

Rearranging

28x^2-1800x+640000=0

x=\frac{400}{7}

thus L_1=98.312 ft

L_2=73.73 ft

L=172.04 ft
