Barbara requires 2 gallons of paint to cover an area of 800 square feet. Identify the graph for the relationship from quantity t

o the area covered, and the parent function that best describes it. Then use the graph to estimate how many gallons of paint Barbara requires to paint an area of 2,400 square feet.

Answer:

6

Step-by-step explanation:

x = area to be painted

y = gallons of paint needed

we know already one point of that function/graph :

x = 800

y = 2

so, for a simple relationship between the 2 variables we can assume

y = ax

2 = a×800

a = 2/800 = 1/400

so, we get

y = (1/400) x

for 2400 ft²

y = 1/400 × 2400 = 1/4 × 24 = 24/4 = 6

she needs 6 gallons of paint for 2400 ft².

The intensity, I, of a sound varies inversely with the square of the distance, r, from the source of the sound. Write an equatio
charle [14.2K]

Answer:The  equation relating I, r, and k is I =K/r²

Step-by-step explanation:

The intensity, I, of a sound varies inversely with the square of the distance, r, from the source of the sound can be written as

I ∝ 1/r²

Introducing the constant of proportionality, K we have that

I =K x 1/r²

Therefore , the  equation relating I, r, and k is I =K/r²

Consider the line <img src="https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=%20y%3D%5Cfrac%7B2%7D%7B3%7D%20x%2B1%20" id="TexFormula1" title=" y=\frac{2}
miv72 [106K]

we are given equation of line

y=\frac{2}{3} x+1

Equation of perpendicular line:

Firstly , we will find slope of line

y=\frac{2}{3} x+1

we can compare it with

y=mx+b

we get

m=\frac{2}{3}

we know that

slope of perpendicular line will be -1/m

so, slope is

\frac{-3}{2}

It passes through point (-4,5)

so, we can use point slope form of line

y-5=-\frac{3}{2}(x+4)

we get

y=-\frac{3}{2}x-1..........Answer

Equation of parallel line:

Firstly , we will find slope of line

y=\frac{2}{3} x+1

we can compare it with

y=mx+b

we get

m=\frac{2}{3}

we know that

slope of parallel line always equal

so, slope is

\frac{2}{3}

It passes through point (-4,-5)

so, we can use point slope form of line

y+5=\frac{2}{3}(x+4)

we get

y=\frac{2}{3}x-\frac{7}{3}............Answer
