The land was known to be the region of plenty because it had many excellent resources. One of the Northwest Coast's resources that was important to its economy was wood. Wood played a great role in shaping the economy and lives of the Northwest Coast's people. Not only did the Northwest Coast region have trees for sheltering, but it also had a mass body of water where the people of the land used to get their fish supplies from such as salmon and whales.
